Sheriff Lowery has dedicated his life to service... both to his community and to his family. He and his wife, Tonja, have been married for 28 years, raising their two children, Avery and Camryn, while building deep roots in Baldwin County. Together, they have owned and operated a family pharmacy in Elberta for the past 20 years, reflecting their shared commitment to caring for the people around them.

That same commitment is evident in Sheriff Lowery’s long career in public safety. He was appointed Sheriff of Baldwin County by Governor Kay Ivey on September 1, 2024, following years of leadership within the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Before his appointment, he served as Chief Deputy from 2018 to 2024, after previously advancing through the ranks from Civil Affairs Commander in 2007 to Assistant Chief Deputy of Law Enforcement Operations in 2013.

Earlier in his career, Sheriff Lowery spent more than a decade with the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office as an Investigator and Chief Investigator, gaining extensive experience in the criminal justice system. He has continued to build on that experience through advanced training, including graduating from the FBI National Academy (Session #252) and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (Session #80). He also dedicated eight years to serving as president of the Alabama Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates.

Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Sheriff Lowery has played a key role in shaping the future of public safety in Baldwin County. He served as project manager for the $70 million expansion of the Baldwin County Corrections Center, a major initiative that began in 2020 and was successfully completed and officially opened in early 2026. He was a key player in implementing the Rural Enforcement Unit, expanding law enforcement resources and outreach to Baldwin County’s rural communities, and he continues to champion important initiatives and programs through the Sheriff’s Office. He remains active in community leadership, serving as Vice Chairman of the Baldwin County 911 Board and as a charter member of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, where he has worked to support numerous charitable efforts.

His service extends into civic life as well. Sheriff Lowery is a charter member and past president of the Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary and has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, an honor that reflects his dedication to service above self.
