Inmates incarcerated in the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center are allowed to make purchases for food and personal items. The inmate can place orders for goods on the Center’s approval list. Inmates use the funds on their inmate trust account.

Educational and Entertainment Services

Inmates have access to tablets that provide a variety of services, both free and paid. Free services include but are not limited to some books, educational and religious programming, and a law library. Paid services include but are not limited to books, music, videos, movies, emails and messaging. The paid services incur a $4 a month rental fee that will be assessed prior to using any paid service. If the inmate does not utilize a paid service, there is not fee for using the tablet.

Emails and Messaging

Inmates are able to communicate electronically via email and messaging. The email and messaging services provide an alternative to phone and video visitation communication. Emails are allowed to have attached photos however photos are screened for compliance with Corrections Center Mail policies.

Attorneys will incur the cost of using the email service. These emails are not privileged and can be monitored.

Funds for these services are separate from the Inmate Trust Account.

Funds cannot be transferred to this service from the Inmate Trust Account.

Attorney Visitation

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center provides (2) two options for attorney visitation.

1. Video Visitation. Video visitation is currently set to not record any visitation scheduled by attorneys. All attorneys assigned as a public defender will obtain the video visitation at no cost. You will be required to verify your status before approval for privileged video visits.

2. On-Site Visitation. On-Site Visitation is available Monday –Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the exception of black out times. All visitors, including paralegals and translators, must be registered when making the appointment. All on-site visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling Inmate Visitation at 251-580-2581. Attorneys and approved visitors must check-in through Docket with a valid photo ID and current Bar Card or agency identification.

Starting 9-1-2025 all mail will need to be sent to the below addresses. Mail received at other addresses will be rejected.

STANDARD NON-LEGAL MAIL, DEEMED TO NOT MEET THE BELOW GUIDELINES WILL BE DESTROYED

1. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID
2. All incoming mail must have a return address on the envelope
3. All incoming mail must be no larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches (letter size), no thicker than light card stock and able to be fed through a sheet fed scanner
4. All incoming mail shall be opened and inspected or read to determine if contraband is enclosed or any violation of jail rules has occurred. If such is found mail will be destroyed and not returned. Any letters accompanying money orders will be destroyed, please send separate
5. Prohibited Mail
   1. Stamps
   2. Blank envelopes
   3. Stationary

      1. Cash, checks, or any other forms of currency the only exception being money orders

   4. Threats of physical harm against any person or threats/details of criminal activity
   5. Plans to smuggle contraband into or out of the institution
   6. Information to formulate escape plans, to commit a crime or to violate a jail rule
   7. Solicitation of gifts, goods, money, or things of value from individuals or entities other than family or established close friends
   8. Code or gang insignia
   9. Obscene language or drawings
   10. Information that, if communicated, would create a threat to the security of the institution

       1. No Packages

   11. None of the following may be included or attached:
       1. Address labels
       2. Stickers
       3. Homemade cards
       4. Musical cards
       5. Non-white envelopes or paper
       6. Paintings
       7. Tracing paper
       8. Pages from coloring books
       9. Drawings in colored ink, marker, crayon or glitter
       10. Raised decorations
       11. Paint, white out, glue or any other liquid form

           1. Pictures are the only enclosures permitted to be mailed to inmates.

              1. Each inmate is allowed up to 10 photographs per package, but these MUST be printed on photo paper

   12. Printouts from the internet, colored pages, and provocative material (i) are not permitted and will be destroyed
       1. Provocative is generally defined as follows: “Causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction” or “arousing sexual desire or interest.”
